behavioral statement

I hereby recognize that I will be participating in a unique Christ-centered creative community, requiring an exemplary lifestyle and loving respect for members of this and the surrounding community. While in the program, I will endeavor to conduct myself in accordance with the ethics of a Christ-centered life, cultivating actions it commends such as love, compassion, truthfulness, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. I will likewise refrain from dishonesty, plagiarism, drunkenness, sexual immorality, theft, violence, disruptive behavior, racism, sexual harassment and the use of illegal drugs. I will also honor any additional standards required by my home institution.

Furthermore, in respect for the values of others in this community, I will abstain from the use of alcohol & tobacco. I understand that violation of any of these standards is grounds for disciplinary action, including possible immediate dis- missal from the program.

If that looks familiar it's because it's the same code of conduct you read in the CMC catalog before you applied, and the same behavioral commitment you made when you signed your application.

Disciplinary Action

The idea expressed in Matthew 18 is to hold each other mutually accountable, but that neither negates individual responsibility nor forecloses upon more formal disciplinary action if a violation occurs. Upon receipt of a complaint about, or notice of, such a violation of conduct, the program Student Life Director will provide the student with notice of the complaint or alleged violation and an opportunity to be heard. Following such a hearing, the Student Life Director’s decision will be final unless the student chooses to make a verbal or written appeal to the Director of The CMC. A formal letter will be sent to the student’s home institution informing that institution of the disciplinary action taken. Behavioral problems are no fun for anyone, besides the fact that they’re a complete waste of time.
